Hello again everyone, welcome to This Week in The Pyramid!
Before we go any further, please take some time to check out the Partners page. AP has several great partners, all working to grow the game of soccer at the lower levels, and more will be forthcoming. Check out their sites and lend them your support. Bundesliga Relegation Survivors: Here's a fun video recap of the two teams to get promoted, and survive, in their first season in the Bundesliga, FC Ingolstadt 04 and SV Darmstadt 98. Pro Rugby Beginnings: I love rugby. And I'm so glad there's now a league in the US. This is a long form interview with the man behind PRO Rugby, Douglas Schoninger. Hopefully PRO will continue to grow and start to take the States by storm. Bolton and Fan Ownership: From Supporters Direct, a great resource it's own right, this articles covers the plight of Bolton Wanderers, and the attempt by the fans to take ownership of part of the club through a Supporters Trust. MLS Monopoly: Both ironic and funny. Which I guess makes this Hipster. Someone took the time to create a Monopoly board for MLS, which replaces trains with trophies, and has Blind Draws and Commissioner's Chests. Funny stuff. "I believe it's just a matter of time for the sport to develop and mature" Today's Interview is brought to you by Rabble.tv. Rabble.TV is the future. Ever want to give live commentary on a game your watching? Interested in doing a podcast? Want fun things to listen to in your down time? Or when you're supposed to be working? This is the place. Welcome back to AP ladies and gentlemen! Portugal are now your European Champions. Major League Soccer is rolling through the summer heat, USL keeps expanding, and Miami FC of the NASL keeps on spending. Today's interview is a treat. Hector Diaz is a renaissance man. Coaching and Academy Director, holder of a National B License, former Air Guardsman, and second generation American. He's got some great stuff to say about the game in the USA, and answers a couple of reader questions as well. Check it out. Lessons in Grassroots, Total Football and Having a Right Hand: Jon Langlois of Essex County FC7/7/2016 "Grassroots soccer is the best soccer there is in my opinion." Today's interview is brought to you by SoccerElf.com. SoccerElf.com is a brand new website dedicated to helping people all across the United States find the nearest pick up game. If you can't find one near you, guess what? You can create one. Right now, it's still the early stages, so AP has partnered with them to help get the word out, get more people on the site, and get more games going everywhere! The more chances to play, the more people will play. And the more people who play, the more the game grows.
Welcome back to AP readers! What an interesting week for soccer. Solidarity payment lawsuits in the US, Portugal waiting until the Semifinals of the Euro to actually win a game outright. This week interview is also interesting. I actually encountered Essex County FC while interviewing another team in Massachusetts. I reached out to them, and we were able to do an interview covering grassroots soccer, playing 'Total Football,' and the importance of having a right hand man. Check it out. |
