Before we really get in to week 4 of the AP Power Rankings, I need to make a couple of things clear in advance of the significant changes you'll see below.
Recently, I found out that several other USASA Elite Leagues are currently playing, and several others are getting ready to kick off. Some of these leagues have teams featuring in multiple leagues, such as West Chester United and CD Aguiluchos USA. Both organizations have a team in the NPSL and in a more regional Elite League. This has caused the creation of a new rule for the rankings. Any organization featuring a team in two leagues can only have the side playing in the higher ranked league featured in the power rankings. Now, due to finding out how many Elite Leagues have been playing and have teams eligible for the Power Rankings, you'll see a lot of changes this week. And expect to see teams from the Bay State Soccer League here in the next week or two. In week 4, we have a new number 1: Strikers FC South Coast, courtesy of a big win over Cal Arsenal FC. Right behind them is a new number 2, Santa Ana Winds, who downed Ozzy's Laguna over the weekend. Riverside Coras falls to 3 courtesy of an off week. Making their debut at number 4 is Vereinigung Erzgebirge of the USL of Pennsylvania. La Maquina swaps the 5 and 6 spots with Moreno Valley, who drew 2-2 with PCS Football Club. LA Wolves, who also had an off week, fell from number 2 to number 7. FC Arizona defeated Corinthians USA 4-1, pushing their goal differential further up, but also gave up their first goal of the season. Colorado Rush knocked off Club El Azul 3-0 to go top of the UPSL Colorado Conference, and solidify their position in the standings. Ozzy's Laguna, courtesy of their loss to Santa Ana Winds and the worst goal differential in the Top 10, fall from third all the way to tenth.
As more leagues and divisions start kicking off, I've started a new section where you can see the teams that just missed the cut this week, or have just become eligible for a spot in the Top 10. Here are your 'Teams on the Brink.'
Help us continue to improve our Power Rankings. Should we add a couple more spots? How would you incorporate adding new teams to the Top 10 as more teams hit the 3 games played mark? Let us know in the comments below! We have movement! There's been some shake ups in the Top 10 this week. We have a new number one for the first time this season, as Riverside Coras have knocked Ozzy's Laguna off the top. An 8-1 victory for the LA Wolves after last weeks loss sees them back at Number 2.
Santa Anna have taken a slight tumble, falling from 5th to 7th, well La Maquina and Moreno Valley climb one spot each. FC Arizona roared back into the Top 10 to 8th, courtesy of dominant win over City of Angels FC, while knocking a struggling Club El Azul out of the Top 10. FC Arizona have yet to concede a goal through 4 games. Colorado Rush and Orange County FC did noy move up only because of FC Arizona's dominance on both sides of the ball, though big performances from either one of those team this weekend could see big gains made.

Help us continue to improve our Power Rankings. Should we add a couple more spots? How would you incorporate adding new teams to the Top 10 as more teams hit the 3 games played mark? Let us know in the comments below! Big games over the weekend have led to some shake ups in the power rankings. Teams have swapped places and one team even fell out of the Top 10.
LA Wolves lost to La Maquina, losing their top spot and falling to third. Ozzy's Laguna topped SFV Scorpions FC to go top of the USPL's Western Conference Pro Premier Division, with Riverside Coras of the NPSL right behind them only because of one fewer game played. Big wins from Santa Ana and Strikers FC have them on the cusp of a Top Three berth. At the bottom half of the Top 10, a loss saw High Desert United replaced by Colorado Rush, while Club El Azul's weekend loss not only saw them slip in the rankings, but also let the Rush back into the conference race. FC Arizona slip out of the ratings due to a weekend off, and a big win from Orange County FC. A few things to look out for in the coming weeks. Teams from the UPSL's Arizona and Northwest Conferences are eligible for inclusion, with Magic Valley FC and California Victory coming on strong. And team's from the NPSL's Golden Gate Conference will soon have their crack at the Power Rankings, too.
What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with this weeks changes? Sound off in the comments below! Hello everyone, and welcome to week 1 of AP's new Power Rankings. Here we will attempt to rank the top amateur teams in the country from USASA. First, some ground rules.
And, because I know someone will notice that High Desert United has played more games than several teams above them, they are currently playing in the UPSL Western Conference Championship Division, currently competing for promotion to the Pro Premier Division. A good record in a lower league means they will need to keep up their impressive displays to make up for being in a lower quality division to remain in the power rankings. Now that we've cleared everything up, let's get rolling with Week 1 of the AP Power Rankings!
