Poku and the Age of Panic: A great piece from FiftyFive. One, this article covers the transfer of Poku from NYCFC to Miami FC earlier this summer. It's a little more of a technical piece, covering the issue of spending pretty incredible amounts of money for an NASL side, and whether this is a sign of health or panic. Diversity in Our Stands: Another article from FiftyFive.one. It's hard to describe, but the title gives a pretty good description of the thrust of the article. Highly recommend you not only read this article, but the article that this is written in reply to. Iraq vs Iran, 2015 Asian Cup: This might be the wildest game to ever happen at a major tournament, and not many people outside of Asia even know it happened. 120 minutes lead to a 3-3 tie, and the game went to penalties. Add in the nearly sold out crowd, split evenly between the two fan bases, and you have an absolute thriller. Before we go any further, please take some time to check out the Partners page. You can see what the view is like from every seat, including the standing terrace. Detroit City, Symbol of Hope: A wonderful piece from the Telegraph. This article does an overview of all the work DCFC has done for the city of Detroit, and how it has become a symbol not just of civic pride, but of the resurgence of Detroit itself. Ecuador's Minnow: Want to know why Promotion and Relegation can be a beautiful thing? These Football Times wrote a piece about Independiente del Valle. In 2007, they were in the third division. This year, they played in the Finals of the Copa Libertadores. Hopefully PRO will continue to grow and start to take the States by storm. Bolton and Fan Ownership: From Supporters Direct, a great resource it's own right, this articles covers the plight of Bolton Wanderers, and the attempt by the fans to take ownership of part of the club through a Supporters Trust. MLS Monopoly: Both ironic and funny. Which I guess makes this Hipster. Someone took the time to create a Monopoly board for MLS, which replaces trains with trophies, and has Blind Draws and Commissioner's Chests. Funny stuff. |
