Well hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Pyramid! This is a special 'Update' blog, involving two of the teams I've interviewed previously, North County Battalion and Albion SC Pros. For some context, click here to read the Battalion interview, and click here to read the Albion interview. To say awesome things are happening with these guys would be understatement. I'd love to go see these guys play each other for the first time later this year. How about some love, NCB and ASCP? I'll buy the beer! Full disclosure, this is not an interview, and will be written more in the style of the AP Newsletter, with articles linked and short blurbs explaining what the article discusses in more detail.
North County Battalion updates. These guys have been making some moves recently, especially on the business end of the pitch. These guys are vacuuming up capital and expertise like it's going out of style! Let's start with the first move from earlier in the year. Warren Barton Supports the Battalion - The San Diego Flash, also of the National Premier Soccer League, have folded up shop this year. Warren Barton, the Flash's head coach, actually directed a large number of his former players to the Battalion, and has offered his support to the new team. San Diego Soccer Club and Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks - Two successful youth teams, two exciting partnerships! NCB has secured a pipeline of potential talent and team support. Youth is the lifeblood of any team, and this should go a long way towards securing a sustainable future for the Battalion. Sunrise Capital Partners - Sponsors are a big deal, and Sunrise Capital Partners are a sweet pickup. Not only are they sponsoring, but they're also offering expertise. This is great news, exactly the kind of thing lower level teams need to look for. Sponsors who are invested, and not just financially, in the team. Albion SC Pros updates. More moves for the more southern of the San Diego teams. Again, more shoring up the business end, big sponsorship, and a very successful first game! Andreas Roell - Not only is this guy a former player, he's also the head of the official charity of the 2014 World Cup. That's a pretty big deal. This guy knows his stuff, and will be a big boost for Albion. G-Form - Jersey sponsors are great, especially when they work in sports. From the article, ' G-Form is an innovative company by nature that specializes in creating protective gear for athletes using advanced technology.' Sounds like a good deal for all involved. First game + New team = 2,000 - Albion played there first game this weekend, and did so in style! Skydivers, fresh Mexican Food, 2,000 plus fans and a first ever win in the first ever NPSL game! Couldn't ask for anything more for a new team. Now, if you want to keep up to date with these guys, which after reading this, I'm sure you do, both teams are on Twitter.
