What's going on readers! Today is a special day. This article is an update for the North County Battalion. In case you missed it, NCB is one of our Media Partners, which means I'm working to bring you updates on how things are going out in San Diego. Check it out.
First, to get you ready to go, here are the current standings for the NPSL Southwestern Conference. These standings are courtesy of the FC Hasental website, since the NPSL website is still undergoing major re-branding and isn't giving updated standings yet.
1 - Albion Pros: 10 pts
2 - Deportivo Coras: 7 pts
3 - NC Battalion: 7 pts
4 - FC Hasental: 4 pts
5 - Corinthians USA: 2 pts
6 - Temecula FC: 1 pts
7 - SoCal SC: 1 pts
So far it's been a really solid start for the Battalion, with their only loss being a 3-1 result against Albion Pros. Despite that loss, they've already produced one of the NPSL's premier moments of the 2016 season, and in only their second season. Player/Coach Ryan Guy, former New England Revolution winger and Guam National Team player, came on as a substitute and promptly did this:
Yeah, that's a moment you're going to remember for a long time right there. NCB have also had four of their players get starts with the San Diego State University soccer team. Pretty big steps for such a new team. For their next game, North County are hosting Temecula FC, who are currently tied with SoCal SC for last place in the Southwestern Conference. Should be a good chance for the Battalion to keep the momentum, and the first place charge, on a roll.
